DISCLAIMER: Since we are in a position like a doctor diagnosing and advising a patient over the phone, by contacting me you agree that you will not hold me liable in any way for misjudgments by me, or for any hazards you encounter or produce if you work on your electrical system. Contacting a local electrician to come to your home is always an option and may still be necessary after consulting me. No-Worry Privacy Policy
1. BY PHONE. You will reach me personally (really!) Mon.-Sat. 7am-9pm Pacific. Our conversation will cost you $1/minute. The total time needed averages 15 or 20 minutes, but we will talk only as long as seems fruitful to both of us. Here's a sample conversation. The number to call is 800-270-8660. I will send you a PayPal bill that you will be able to pay by credit/debit card (without joining PayPal) or by check or cash.
2. BY E-MAIL. To simply provide feedback about the site, e-mail me free here. If you want my help or advice, fill out This Request Form. When you submit it, a button will take you to PayPal, where you pay for my advice using a normal credit/debit card, without having to join PayPal. [If you are willing to wait longer, I will accept checks or cash instead, at the address below.] I promise to then email you my advice within 12 hrs. Mon.-Sat. Your payment of: a. $20 gets you an open-ended email exchange with me about your one particular problem, or ... b. $10 gets you one email response from me.
In neither case can you expect my advice to necessarily lead you to a solution. I appreciate the chance you are taking, but people often pay as much for new outlets and breakers to try to solve the problem, with less chance of success. I will honor your investment by doing my best in our communications. Some problems have quick, simple fixes. Others will take some persistence and a willingness to try things out (within your comfort zone).
3. IN PERSON. If you live in the area east of Seattle, we can arrange for me to come diagnose and repair your problem. For this, contact me as described in House Calls.
Those paying by check or cash should send to:

The switch and light problems are fixed. Your directions were great. Thanks for your help. Glenn -CA
I don't know how many times I have paid over $100 to have someone come out and fix a problem in 10 seconds because I didn't know where to start. -Stephen
Right now all of the building trades in Toronto are so busy, that we would have been charged a mint to fix it... You saved us a fortune. -Clive
We only talked for 1 min. but it was worth a lot to resolve the problem so fast. I was going to call a pro and would have been charged at least $100 for a house call. You saved me some money and a lot of embarrassment. Will -CT
I would have gone crazy and spent a lot of money trying to fix the problem if it had not been for your help. -Bob
